Welcome to the Louth Tennis Coaching Course. Whether engaged in some physical activity recently or not, we aim to take things slowly and steadily during the week long tennis coaching course. Our professional coach, Ed Allinson, will decide how to progress each individual based upon their ability and general fitness level.
First, we have to take things slowly and gradually build up. It is vital to improve flexibility and mobility of muscles and joints and this will be achieved with regular exercise and practise.
If any discomfort is experienced during the lesson it is best to stop and simply allow time to rest and recover. Unless an injury which requires medical treatment, aches and pains usually go away with rest.
Getting outdoors to play sports has benefits for everyone. Outdoor activity increases vitamin D production through exposure to the light. This vitamin is key to building strong bone tissue. Since muscles are attached to bones, using them stimulates both. Bone density is improved by weight bearing exercise such as tennis.
There is a great deal of information available on good diet. Sometimes, however, it can be confusing. It is generally recognised that a good diet should include a variety of foods, especially when they are freshly produced. Meat, fish, eggs, milk, fresh fruit, vegetables and pulses are all recommended except where your GP has excluded any for medical reasons. Fresh water rather than fruit juices, tea or coffee will benefit your health most.
